Crafting of Frames

Quality eyeglasses were historically crafted by jewellers and are still handmade by guild artisans. Having as many as 200 manual processes, a frame’s production is a lengthy labor of love. From hand-cutting the facefront, to sanding off rough edges and polishing, soldering, hand-painting and hinge assembly, each frame follows a master recipe: similar to others but unique in itself. That is why each frame must be sent to the lab for lens production: each frame is slightly different. Unique.  So when asked, “Why are your frames so expensive?” consider the time involved, the attention to detail, and the pursuit of perfection. Yes, Boeuf Bourguignon and hot dogs are each food, but can you really compare?
